MySql and dual licensing

A forward from Greg Whitescarver of Code and What-Not about MySql's dual licensing strategy. Check out the comments on the initial post.

IIRC, MySQL has long supported dual licenses (a 'Commercial License' that requires purchasing or the GPL). The news isn't the dual licensing -- it's the dual distributions. Frankly, it seems like much ado about nothing. From Red Hat to OpenLDAP, everyone seems to be offering a 'commercial version' of a FOSS project.
