I refuse to get it

An unintentionally hilarious rant against free software. Theres an argument in it somewhere (let me know if you find it), some predictions, some attempts to sound magisterial, and plenty of fallacies/misrepresentations and the like. But seriously, do have a read, and tell me what you think. If you find it funny, pass it on.

I had a look. Just some sad old academic losing the plot, failing to recognise the difference between software and wheat.

His invocation of a capitalist trio is interesting:

The marketplace in which we live is one where wealth is created by a trusted
trio: create, protect what you now own, and sell... Capitalists are an incentivized
bunch. They see wealth coming when the trusted trio is followed...The fourfold freedoms
[of free software] thankfully, are forgotten.

...as an examplar of the naïve (but generally held) notion of capitalism as a beneficent force for humanity. Always questionable, it is now clearly false, blind to the fact that nature is not an infinite resource.

The way I read it, the organisers of the meeting wanted a debate, and booked him as the funny man. Maybe you had to be there.
